'Vacant Lot' builders bags are used to grow fruit and vegetables

The City of London is growing fruit and vegetables in grow bags in vacant building sites to tackle the increasing demand for allotments.

With only 22 acres of open space and no formal allotments, derelict land in the City is being quickly snapped up for use as temporary growing areas.

Director of open spaces Sue Ireland says you don’t need large areas of land to grow food:
